Best Bedroom Paint Colors

Option 1 - Light & Neutral

You really cannot go wrong with a light and bright bedroom design. The key is to play with several neutrals in a more monochromatic palette to allow for a sense of depth and contrast. In this design, we love how the light rug, curtains, wall color, and accent chairs stand against the black four-poster bed and deeper neutral pillows for a sophisticated yet airy look.

When it comes to picking out any paint color we recommend first purchasing peel and stick samples of the colors, trying them on all four walls and viewing them at a variety of points throughout the day. Not to mention in both natural light and artificial (overhead) light. All of those lighting changes as well as the direction your bedroom is facing will affect how the color appears in your space.

Option 2 - Calming & Spa Like

If I could live at the spa, I would! This is why I have tried to make my personal bedroom feel like a coastal retreat and day at the spa. Calming and soothing colors are scientifically proven to help you get a restful night's sleep and fall asleep faster. Using soft color tones that you would see in nature is a great way to achieve this spa-like color scheme.

Paints with blue and green tones to them can drastically change in various lighting. It’s important to sample your paint color in a variety of lighting situations before committing to ensure you aren’t left with unwanted undertones or a too warm or cool color temperature in your space.

Option 3 - Moody and Cozy

As much as I love coastal, spa-like colors, a moody bedroom color scheme is just sexy. Working with moody blues, greens, blacks, and grays is a great way to make your space feel cozy, sophisticated, sexy, and cave-like. If you’re a fan of sleeping until noon, you’re going to want to jump on the moody bedroom trend! We’ve found that spaces that have a lot of natural light, particularly south facing bedrooms, do really well with moody colors because they can absorb so much of the room’s natural light.
